John attended Hudson Grade School and graduated from Rainier Union High School in 1957. He is seventy-nine years old. He has been married to his wife Nina for 53 years. They had three children; one has since passed away. John joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962. He retired in 1992 as a Colonel after receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
