Peace Lutheran Church was said to have been located on the North side of "A" street approximately across from E 1st St. The building that was used as the church was reportedly destroyed by a fire in the early 1970s.
History
Peace Lutheran Church was assembled first as the Lutheran Mission in Rainier Oregon in 1954. A steering committee was formed and helped led the small church in the early years. In the beginning, Pastor Leroy E. Pillman was the pastor for the church. In 1957, the congregation reorganized and was led by Pastor James H. Goss. The congregation was then referred to as Rainier Lutheran Congregation and later on that year as Rainier First Lutheran congregation. The church officially organized in 1958 and it was then that they took on the name Peace Lutheran. Peace Lutheran had several visiting pastors, most notably Reverand Alden, until 1962 when they recieved their own pastor, Pastor Wilton H. Anderson, who they shared with Brownsmead congregation. Peace Lutheran worked together with Immanuel Lutheran in Brownsmead frequently. The church was led after Pastor Anderson by Pastor Aalto. In 1969, it was decided to disband Peace Lutheran Church because there was not enough new membership or financial support from Lutheran Missions.
