The Delena Elementary School shortly after it closed in 1978.

The Delena School was built in 1922 and completed in time for fall classes. It closed its doors to students in 1978 and the students were transferred that fall to the new Hudson Park Elementary School. Arthur Bryant of Rainier got the bid to build the new school on April 7th 1922. It replaced the first school house said to have been behind the Delena Store next to Beaver Creek. The school that Arthur Bryant built still exists as of 2019. It is located southeast of the intersection of the the Delena and Beaver Falls roads.

Satellite view (from Google Maps May 11, 2018) of the old Delena School building. I attended Delena from 1957 to 1965 and I have identified those areas that I remember while I was there:
1. The original 1922 school building with lunchroom on ground floor.
1A. 5th and 6th grade class rooms on second floor.
1B. 7th and 8th grade class rooms on second floor.
2. New one level addition built prior to 1957.
2A. 1st and 2nd grade class rooms.
2B. 3rd and 4th grade class rooms.
2C. Restrooms.
3. Gymnasium built prior to 1957. It was used for PE classes, basketball games, and the annual school christmas play and carnival.
4. The bus garage on west end, gymnasium restrooms on east end.
5. The Delena Store.
Not shown is the Delena Baptist Church to the right (east) of the school.
